Benefits:
The PBS archive add ons are software solutions developed under R/3
to support the SAP standard data archiving. The precondition for
the usage of the PBS archive add ons always is a correct SAP data
archiving. The following benefits are available:
Modular layout of the PBS archive add ons
analogue to the SAP standard modules. For example, a module CSD
corresponding to the standard module SD is available.
The implementation of the PBS archive add
ons is independent of the data base and the operating system.
The following languages are supported: German,
English and French.
The SAP archive files are processed to a homogenous
PBS archive data stock which can be easily administered. The original
SAP data is not changed.
The SAP archive files of an archiving object
are further processed by a simple program run of a PBS archive
load program (batch run).
In addition, the PBS archive data stock contains
index data for a faster access of transactions and reports to
archived data.
Nearly the complete PBS archive data stock
is stored outside the R/3 data base in the file system of a R/3
server, thus guaranteeing a lasting relieve of the load on the
R/3 data base.
By relieving the load on the R/3 data base
the performance for standard data base and report accesses is
increased; the required disk space is reduced and the back-up
times of the data base become shorter.
Keeping the data on magnetic disks guarantees
a very fast data access, also in case of a very high number of
user accesses.
The PBS archive data stock can, in addition,
be managed in a comfortable was with HSM systems.
A possibility to display the PBS archive data
in optical archiving systems is possible.
All PBS archive data is stored in compressed
form, thus allowing to store also vast data volumes in small spaces
(6 million financial accounting documents incl. indices in 4 gigabyte)
A PBS archive data stock can, at the same
time, be used by several R/3 clients (production-, mirror- ,test
system).
The access to archive data is made via the
R/3 surface trough extended SAP standard transactions and report,
displaying at the same the archived data and the data base data.
The archive data is marked with the symbol ‘*'. All sums
are drawn from the complete data stock (integration).
With all PBS transactions and reports you
can select via a parameter only archived data, only resident data
or archived and resident data from the data base.
The archive data is selected without an additional
load on the data base server.
PBS provides transactions for the direct display
of SAP documents from the data base or the archive. The document
selection is carried out via the document number (order-, delivery
number, etc.).
PBS provides transactions allowing a fast effective search for
documents via master data (e.g. customers, vendors, G/L accounts,
material) and match codes.
PBS provides transactions allowing to print
SAP original documents like orders, delivery notes, invoices and
purchase orders at a later date from the archive.
With the PBS transactions you can navigate
via mouse click within documents chains to the previous and the
the follow-up document (order, delivery note, invoice, accounting
and cost accounting document). The navigation is made to resident
and already archived data.
If an optical archive system is used you can
navigate with the PBS transactions via mouse click also to scanned
original documents (like invoices received and issued).
The navigation to transactions from different
modules allows an archiving according to the business transactions.
The implementation of the PBS archive add ons is especially economical
as complete process chains can be followed in splits of seconds
within the R/3 system. Within the process chains also the display
of scanned original documents takes place, i.e. you must not search
after a SAP data archiving for the original documents via special
indices in the optical archiving system.
By using extended standard transactions and
reports the users can handle immediately the PBS archive add ons
without any additional training.
PBS provides extended standard reports, evaluating automatically
the R/3 data base and the archived data.
With the help of a conversion tool, customer-specific
reports can be extended automatically by the access to archived
data.
In all PBS transactions all SAP authorization
checks are carried out.
The PBS modules have been certified
within the SAP Complementary Software Program (CSP).
